We moved here to enjoy each other and the great charm of South Carolina.
We care for and respect our neighbors, and helping others is the mission and hallmark of Heather Lakes!
The goal of this web site is to share the "Good News" of Heather Lakes, Little River, and other places of interest. Others in Heather Lakes have graciously offered their help to me with this effort, and I am most grateful to them.
The focus will always be on the positive.
Please submit your positive items of interest and they will be posted on the site at the appropriate time.

5 YEARS AND STILL GOING
Last but not least, I just realized October is the 5th Anniversary of OUR website above!! It has been updated weekly for 5 years and has had over 400 "hits" per month! (A hit is when someone accesses the site.) I have had fun doing it and plan to keep going! I've gone through 2 computers and hours of time, BUT it's well worth it just to get your feedback!! I could not have done it without you, OUR NEIGHBORS!! Most of what you find on the website comes from YOU in the form of tips, news, ideas, suggestions, etc..
The website "hits" have come from here and far away places. (The website gives you locations from which they come, but not specific folks.) We have had people in Europe, South America, the Near and Far East access OUR website. It is also popular with realtors! Many of our current NEIGHBORS found us on line!
I want to THANK Y'ALL for your help with the site with your excellent contributions. Give yourselves a "pat on the back".......pat, pat, pat, etc.........for a job well done! After 5 years it would be great if you went to the "About Us", and "Suggestions/Feedback" pages in particular and read them over to see if they still fit!

The Heather Lakes Homeowners Association, a self managed HOA, shall promote communication, social interaction, mutual respect, fiscal accountability and ensure the maintenance of common areas and properties.
Guiding Principles
Be positive, give and receive respect;
Recognize and respect the diversity of the culture and ideas of the community;
Share ideas valuing everyone’s right to an opinion;
Use every possible avenue of communication to disseminate information, gather feedback and encourage discussion before making decisions;
Make decisions in the best interest of the entire community;
Encourage members to promote a positive community;
Encourage increased member participation recognizing that each member plays a role in the success of the community; and
Provide social activities that provide opportunities for the development of friendships and social interactions in a safe environment.

Foster a climate of respect for all cultures within our community.
Respect everyone and seek consensus on ideas.
Provide opportunities for members to participate in the community on a variety of levels.
Provide for events that provide for interaction and participation by all members.
Maintain standards with consideration of members’ desires that promote the integrity of the community and sustain property values.
Determine community goals and assist in the achievement of those goals.
Encourage participation and responsibility to achieve fiscal responsibility for the properties of Heather Lakes.
Provide a Web site to keep members informed about activities, items of interest, and issues within our community.
